Family Literacy Regional Network Meeting & Shared Storybook Reading Workshop
You are invited to attend the Centre for Family Literacy Regional Network meeting and a professional development session on sharing books with young children.
The majority of family literacy programs focus on helping parents learn to read interactively with their children in ways that will make a difference to their future and academic success.
In this workshop, we will discuss the six elements of effective shared reading experience that we can share with parents in family literacy programs:
- physical arrangement
- social involvement
- materials selected
- reading style
- conversation
- enhancing book-sharing experience through play
This workshop is faciliated by Nada Jerkovic, Manager, Family Literacy for the Calgary Learning Centre.
